South Congregational Church - Hartford, CT

South Congregational Church in downtown Hartford is seeking a pianist for Sunday morning services and to accompany their chamber choir. The ability to play organ is a bonus but is not required. This position would begin July 23. The choir is currently on break for the summer, and their season will start again with rehearsals beginning Wednesday, September 6, 2023.
Job responsibilities: accompany congregational singing on Sunday mornings, typically one hymn (two on Communion Sundays) and two pieces of service music; accompany the choir for the weekly choral anthem at offertory (seasonally); provide musical accompaniment for Wednesday night choir rehearsals, 6 to 8 pm (seasonally); and on Communion Sundays once per month, provide a special musical offering of your choice during communion.
Additional services and special music events may occur during Advent and Holy Week, and compensation for those events will be negotiated as needed.

The First Congregational Church of West Brookfield, United Church of Christ, is seeking a part time salaried Music Director/Accompaniest to lead Sunday worship with the Pastor, inspiring the congregants through Christian-based music that may contribute to their spiritual growth. The position is expected to begin around September 1, 2023.
The Music Director/Accompanist will provide music, in coordination with the Pastor, for each Sunday service, designated holidays, and special events. Weekly services include: prelude, offertory, accompaniment for hymns, choral responses and anthems, instrumental music, offertory music, special music, prelude, and postlude, utilizing piano, organ, or other instruments. The music will follow the liturgical calendar and the theme of the planned service, using a variety of genres.
Sanctuary instruments include an 1880 Johnson Tracker Organ and a Yamaha Clavinova keyboard, which is most often used. We often utilize a trumpeter and drummer. While ability to play the organ is not necessary, this skill would be appreciated.

The Congregational Church of Brookfield - Brookfield, CT

Looking for a part-time Director of Music Ministries to start in the summer.
Our original Austin Organ, built in 1916, was rebuilt in 2008 by the Austin Organ Company. The rebuild included a new three manual console, as well as a new chest, additional pipes, and some Walker digital stops. Our Meetinghouse piano is a Yamaha NU1 model, a hybrid digital piano with hammers in the action. It was purchased in 2015. There are also 3 other pianos in various spaces, and a Yamaha keyboard for outdoor worship. We have a five-octave set of Schumerich handbells, a three-octave set of Malmark choir chimes, as well as six chimes from C2 – G2, Bb2 and B2. We also have a full set of Orff instruments, boomwhackers, djembe, congos and other percussion instruments. Our choral library includes more than 1,300 pieces, and our bell anthem library has over 288 pieces, all organized in an Excel database.

The position responsibilities are the usual: Provide piano and organ music for all worship
services (Sunday mornings, seasonal and special services). Facilitate the congregation in singing
and worshipping through music, including hymns, special music, preludes, postludes,
responses, etc. Select choral music and lead the choir for rehearsals and Sunday worship.
Qualifications include proficiency in playing piano and organ; experience providing

Putnam Chorale - Putnam County, NY

We seek an enthusiastic and dedicated music director for an equally enthusiastic SATB chorus of 50 singers to guide us into our next chapter of development and experience. Although a non-auditioned 501c(3) by charter, the Chorale is a mix of focused and dedicated singers eager to provide the region with compelling concert experiences.
The Music Director reports directly to the volunteer Board of Directors. Responsibilities include creating and conducting two annual performances, often with orchestral accompaniment, and providing overall choral guidance to the organization. We seek candidates who are creative and passionate about choral singing, who can apply their own skills and musical objectives while also collaborating with the Chorale for direction.
The position is part time and starts September 1, 2023. Salary is up to $13,000 per year. Duties during the summer are generally light and open to discussion. Rehearsal and performance spaces vary according to needs and opportunities but are generally within 30 miles of Carmel, NY. The hiring process includes a personal interview (ideally in person) and one or more guest conducting sessions to be scheduled during the months of March through July, either with the full chorus or an ensemble. The composition and objectives of the guest conducting will be provided during the interview.

First United Church of Christ, Congregational, Milford CT (UCC), an Open and Affirming church, seeks a skilled organist/pianist and choral conductor for a full-time Minister of Music position. The successful candidate will be a dynamic individual who is invested in cultivating a vibrant music community at First Church. The Minister of Music will play organ and direct adult and children’s choirs for in-person and live-streamed Sunday services and special services including Christmas Eve and Holy Week. Prior church experience is preferred. Handbell choir skills are desired.
The Minister of Music will collaborate with clergy and program staff in weekly meetings to plan worship. First refusal for weddings, funerals, and memorial services with additional compensation. The anticipated start date for this position is June-July 2023. Salary range: $43,000 – 50,000 annually, depending on education and experience, plus health insurance, pension contribution and paid vacation time.
The Minister of Music provides organ service music for two Sunday morning worship services each week and special services including Christmas Eve and Holy Week; directs and manages the Adult Choir (conducting from the console) in 1 weekday evening rehearsal and 1 Sunday morning warmup rehearsal each week, and 1-2 anthems weekly in worship during the program year; directs and manages the Pilgrim Chorale (teens and adults) in 1 rehearsal each week and 1-2 anthems monthly during the program year at selected worship services; directs and manages the Youth Choir (grades 3-7) in 1 rehearsal each week and 1 anthem monthly during the program year at selected worship services; directs and manages the Junior Choir (grades K-2) in 1 rehearsal each week and 4 anthems per year during the program year at selected worship services; directs and manages the Meetinghouse Ringers (Bell Choir) in 1 rehearsal each week and 1 piece monthly during the program year at selected worship services; and encourages, facilitates and coordinates additional volunteer music ensembles (e.g. brass ensemble, jazz band, praise band) for occasional worship music.
Worship Planning and Execution: Plan for weekly worship services and other occasional church activities in conjunction with other church staff.
Administrative: Attend weekly staff meetings and monthly Music Committee meetings.
Facilities: Our Meetinghouse Organ is a 1962 Holtkamp (III/71) with three manuals and 71 ranks (Holtkamp Opus 1739, located in the second-floor organ loft, accessed via stairs). Major renovations occurred in 1990 and 2015. Our Woodruff Chapel houses our two-manual Moller Organ, with just a few ranks. Pianos: 7-foot Yamaha grand in the sanctuary, Yamaha upright in the choir loft. 6-foot Knabe grand in the choir room, Yamaha spinet in the chapel building.
Our music library consists of approximately 1,000 choral arrangements.
