Employers are strongly encouraged to request references and/or representative recordings before contracting a particular musician. Inclusion on this list does not represent any particular level of proficiency. The information provided by those on the sub list has not been confirmed by GHAGO nor is GHAGO able to ensure that any individual is appropriate for any particular situation.

Granby Congregational Church - Granby, CT
Bridge Music Director
Granby Congregational Church in Granby, CT is a progressive, joyful UCC church, formed 2 1/2 years ago following the consolidation of two historic congregations. We are a new church striving to be released from “the way it’s always been” to enacting worship that is creatively faithful, spirit-led, and born out of the unique gifts of our congregation and leadership. To partner in this, GCC is seeking a six-month, part-time Bridge Music Director to accompany Sunday worship, lead our adult choir, and unabashedly celebrate their musical gifts.
We are open and interested in different accompanist gifts including by not limited to organ, piano, and/or guitar. Our choir is eager to work with directors who can draw out the gifts of our volunteer singers and cultivate meaningful community within the group. Our congregation is excited to be led by accompanists with skillful passion, an appreciation of progressive theology, and spirited engagement of sacred music in all its diverse manifestations.

The Sherman Church - Sherman, CT
Music Director, part-time
The Sherman Church, located in Sherman, CT, seeks a Music Director. The Music Director will be responsible for planning, organizing, and leading the music for the church’s worship services. The Music Director will encourage and aid participation by all assembled for worship by providing a variety of types of music, both traditional and contemporary. We seek to involve all generations in worship in a congregation that has continued to appreciate the importance of music in the life of the church.
The purpose of the music ministry is to facilitate an atmosphere in which God is worshipped and glorified. By encouraging, partnering and seeking others to join in the ministry, we look to enhance the program in the fullness of time, creating avenues for and assisting in expressions of praise and worship each Sunday morning and for special services. The music ministry is seen also as an outreach opportunity in the community.
We seek someone who can:

Play the piano and/or organ for Sunday worship and choir rehearsal.

Provide music on the following mandatory holy days: Maundy Thursday, Easter, and Christmas Eve.

Coordinate and hold a weekly rehearsal for a small and dedicated choir offering a weekly anthem.

In cooperation with the Pastor, choose music by Wednesday for Sunday worship that aligns with the sermon topic and the church calendar and communicate with those who are preparing the order of worship.

Collaborate with the Pastor and other ministries regarding music programs.
This position is estimated as a minimum ten-hour-per-week position with the potential to grow as the program develops. A background check will be conducted.
Salary: $20,000-$30,000 annually, based on experience

Director of Music Ministry
St. Patrick-St. Anthony Parish is a dynamic and growing community in the Archdiocese of Hartford, served by the Franciscan Friars (O.F.M.), and is known for its outstanding music program. Candidates must be able to incorporate a broad range of choral repertoire, directing three choirs, overseeing cantors, section leaders, an organ scholar, and the maintenance of the church’s two pipe organs. This is a full-time position with health benefits and includes five weekend Masses, three choir rehearsals, and weekly staff meetings. Funerals and weddings provide additional compensation.
Desired background includes a Master’s degree in music and/or equivalent experience, strong organ/piano skills, choral conducting expertise, and experience with Roman Catholic liturgy.
