The Organ for Young People – POE & PPP
Pipe Organ Encounter (POE) is the most successful outreach program sponsored by the American Guild of Organists! POEs offer teenagers and adults a rewarding opportunity to learn more about the pipe organ and its construction, instruction with experienced faulty, visits to hear and play outstanding instruments, and the chance to meet and interact with peers who share an interest in the King of Instruments.

The POE+ is a summer program filled with practical information and instruction for adult keyboard musicians interested in improving their service-playing skills. Participants will be introduced to basic organ skills through private instruction and classes. The week long experience will lead to greater confidence and competence at the organ.
Local Chapters periodically offer programs for ages 13 and older. For details about typical programs offered, visit the AGO National Site
“Pedals, Pipes and Pizza” – An introduction to the organ – The Greater Hartford chapter of the AGO hosts programs to introduce young people to the organ. “PPP,” an annual event, is a day of activities during which young people who are interested in the organ get to explore and play important instruments in the city. What a great experience to explore the inside of a pipe organ for the first time! “PPP” has also sponsored tours of the Austin organ factory and a tour of the chapel at Trinity College.
