 Welcome from the Dean

Welcome to the largest AGO Chapter in Connecticut!  The Greater Hartford Chapter is about to start a new and exciting season of  programs for organists and lovers of organ music. All are welcome to attend any of our programs.

The annual Pipescreams Concert in late October is a favorite of the chapter and the public. The concert features volunteer performers from our chapter. The players and the audience attended dressed in costumes for this light-spirited event.

October also features a Hymn Festival including a presentation by Dr. Thomas Troeger, a Professor of Christian Communication at Yale University. Bring your choir members and participate in the festival choirs concerts!

Many other exciting events are planned for the upcoming program year including a trip to Radio City Music Hall in New York, including a side trip to hear and play the Mander Organ at St. Ignatius Loyola Church. In January a fine education program is planned focusing on chorale preludes by organist and composer, Robert Fertitta. February brings a factory tour of Austin Organs in Hartford and April features a joint program with South Church in New Britain for a concert by Cherry Rhodes. The year winds up with our annual meeting and picnic.

To become a member of this outstanding chapter or to learn more about the different memberships available, contact John Coghill or any other officer of the chapter.

                  Deb Gemma, Dean

The Hartford Chapter,

is sad to announce
-

It is sad that we report that PIPEDREAMS will no longer be carried on CT Public Radio, possibly ending in October, and no later than January 2008.  CT Public Radio claims lack of listener-ship for PIPEDREAMS, and will now come very close to accomplishing the reformation of their programming to "all-talk."  We wish to thank all of you again who have generously contributed to PIPEDREAMS to keep it on the air at CT Public Radio.

We are currently exploring the possibilities for relocating the program to another station, preferably one that has the broadest reach throughout the state.  Your support for PIPEDREAMS is important at this time, and we ask you to keep PIPEDREAMS alive by recommending your friends and colleagues to continue to listen to the show online at www.pipedreams.org.

John Nisbet, Pipedreams Coordinator
