ORGAN COMPETITION

The Carlene Neihart International Pipe Organ Competition was held on April 10, 2010 in Kansas City, Missouri at the Second Presbyterian Church. The 1949 Moller Pipe Organ was rebuilt and restored in 2009 and includes a new movable console. Contestants from various places in the United States and in other countries joined the the competition.

Quimby Pipe Organs , Inc, underwrote the 1st place award ($2500) and the second place award ($1500) was sponsored by Casavant Freres and Caroll Hanson. The third place award was $1000.

The Carlene Neihart Organ Competition Foundation, with a 501 (C )(3 ) tax-exempt status was formed to organize, presents the competition and funds the prize money to help sustain the future of the Pipe Organ.

An Evening in Belgium presented by the combined choirs of St. James’s Episcopal Church of West Hartford, Chorus Angelicus/Gaudeamus and Christ Church Cathedral of Hartford directed by Nicholas White and Kevin Jones. Featuring Jongen’s Mass, Op. 130 and Peeters’ Missa Festiva. This oncert is presented at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, Farmington Ave., Hartford as a part of the 2010 Association of Anglican Musicians Conference.
